FAQs
Several questions you may have …
-
Is there a lot of paperwork involved?
Two of the forms you’ll find quick and easy: the Agreement and Your Rights and Responsibilities; just read and sign.
One form is your basic information.
The final two are questions to help us get to know you and maybe help you know yourself! -
What coaching certifications do you have?
Coaching is currently an unregulated industry; so technically, anyone can call themselves a coach. Sadly, some people do. It’s important to note that all certifications are not equal; some require no more than a few workshops, whereas others are much more intensive. Sandy has the ICF (International Coaching Federation) accredited 180-hour required certifications through the Lark’s Song Coach Training Program, and she is Board Certified Coach and holds her ACC Certification, ICF Associate Certified Coach as well as her BCC, Board Certified Coach.
-
What's your coaching method?
Sandy uses the co-active coaching method.
“Co-active coaching as a form is a articular way to be in conversation. It offers a unique way to listen, explore, raise awareness, make choices—in fact, take risks—and, always, to build on what was learned along the way to inform the next choice, the next step, and the next learning opportunity.” From “Co-Active Coaching,” by Kimsey-House, H., Kimsey-House, K., Sandahl, P., and Whitworth, L. (2018)

How long is the recommended coaching engagement?
It’s recommend to have 12 sessions over six months based on the science of what our brains need to achieve success in making meaningful change. That being said, a 6-session term is often used for shorter term goals and issues.
-
Can I contact you in between sessions?
Part of Sandy’s agreement with you includes ten-minute phone calls and several text exchanges in between sessions with no additional cost to you.
-
Why did you become a coach?
Sandy’s daughter asked her for advice. “Mom, there’s this coaching program I’m considering.” After hearing about it, Sandy couldn’t stay focused on the conversation because of her excitement about this program - - for HERSELF! ”Mom, you should do this. You already do it. Why not make it official?!” And she did!
-
Does coaching provide diagnosis of mental or physical issues?
Coaching is not a diagnostic profession. You need a licensed professional to diagnose and treat any medical issue; mental or physical health. A licensed therapist helps you see the things in your past and how they are affecting you. Coaching looks at where you are today and moves you forward.
-
What sort of topics do you deal with?
For those she serves, Sandy helps with loneliness, self-doubt, anxiety, life transition (career, death, divorce), autonomy, living divorced and anorexic marriage, non-violent communication, etc.

What's your system to track progress?
After each session, you’ll receive an email documenting what we discussed, what insight you experienced, and what steps you decided to take.
